After having gone on a few dates now, I definitely know what works for me and what doesn’t. First impressions are SO important. Does anyone else feel like they know within the first 3 minutes of a date whether this is going somewhere or not?
I walk into that coffee shop, say hello and by the time I sit down and he says the first few words I already know if this man will ever see my vagina. Teeth, can I get an AMEN for oral hygiene!? I love a man with teeth that are well taken care of. Overall physical appearance, has he paid attention to detail? One of the first things I look at are fingers. Besides my hypothesis on finger size (which we will get into later) a man needs to take care of his fingernails. If he’s got long fingernails that haven’t been cut since his mom did his laundry last, that isn’t going to work for me. Or if they have dirt under them…ugh, I get goose bumps just thinking about it.
This all inspired by my date today. I walked into the coffee shop and knew I was drinking coffee and then “meeting a friend after for lunch” aka I don’t want to spend any more time with you. His teeth were awful and he kept talking like Mr. Ed in an effort not to show them while speaking. His pinky finger and his thumb had long fingernails on them. I don’t know if he did drugs or played the guitar but even the thought of him serenading me romantically on the guitar couldn’t make me stop thinking about how gross his nails were. I drank my coffee and politely smiled through his stories about his cat, (another turn off as I”m a total dog person). I looked around the coffee shop to find something remotely more interesting to look at. The chocolate croissant displayed on the counter looked good. Yep, I’d make out with that chocolate croissant right now, if it meant I didn’t have to listen to him talk anymore. Time for my exit.
For the love of god gentleman, please trim your nails, get those teeth taken care of and bring your A game for the first 3 minutes of the date, at least!
