I’m a big fan of trying to look your best at all times. Are there some days where having the time to brush my teeth and hair feel like a luxury? Sure, but trying to look your best, making it a mission to look good when you start your day should be important and here is why. You never know when you are going to run into someone you are going to want to impress and this could happen when you are least expecting it. I learned this valuable lesson when I was leaving a parking garage on the way to work carrying 2 huge garbage bags and trying to use my foot to help with the burden of the weight, carrying coffee, wearing no make up and my hair looking like Beetlejuice. It had been an awful morning trying to get out the door with 2 kids and of course feet away from my office door, who do I run into? My high school boyfriend who broke my heart and I haven’t seen since graduation. It was one of those moments that you want to be feeling cute and confident for, you certainly don’t want to look like a disheveled bag lady. After that run-in I swore I’d always do my best and make an effort to look good no matter where I was going and it has paid off. I’m always puzzled by the people who post gorgeous glamor shots of themselves with tons of filters on social media and dating sites, hoping to find their partner and yet leave the house every morning to run errands looking like a hot mess. I was recently told by someone I dated they had first noticed me long before we ever started seeing each other when I was spreading out a picnic blanket at the park. Little did I know when I was on all 4’s spreading out a blanket I was being sized up from the rear. I’ve met men on airplanes, in grocery stores, at a gas station, at my sons sporting events, I was even set up on a date by a co-worker who told me they noticed my nail polish was never chipped and he knew a guy who had a thing for pretty nails! You never know where a little self-care will lead, even if you don’t meet anyone taking care of yourself leaves you feeling a little more sexy a little more confident and even if people don’t notice your grooming habits they will certainly notice your air confidence. |
